Developing Life Skills Workshop
On Monday 25th November our Year 12 Business Studies group took part in a Life Skills Workshop with visitors coming in from The Watermill Theatre and Education Business Partnership to run the sessions. This was a practical workshop to help our young people recognise their own strengths and abilities. The programme was designed to increase students’ motivation and encourage them to think about next steps in careers and taking part in interviews, importance of body language and how to present themselves professionally.
On the 18th November visitors from AWE and Pathway CTM came to talk to our sixth formers about apprenticeship opportunities at the Aldermaston site. The range of apprenticeship available are vast with everything from a level 3 apprenticeship for school leavers up to a level 6 sponsored degree apprenticeship. Students were encouraged to start researching now and realise the level of support and different pathways to getting a fantastic career and obtaining a degree; earning while you learn!
Local Accountancy Company James Cowper are hiring A-level school leavers to join their Apprenticeship programme in our Audit & Assurance and Outsourcing teams. Do you like Formula 1? Progressive Technology local Newbury Company that manufacture parts for Formula 1 have apprenticeship opportunities in mechanical engineering for Year 11 School Leavers. Year 9 Work Shadow Day
On Tuesday 18th March all Year 9 will be off timetable. We are requesting they experience the world of work by spending a day shadowing a parent or adult guardian at work. We hope you can support us in this valuable opportunity by arranging permission from your employers to allow this to happen. Any queries or support needed please get in touch. I will send more details nearer the time but wanted to provide early notice of the proposed date.
Year 10 & 12 Work Experience Week – 7th – 11th July 2025
Although July is a long way off I want to urge all students who are focused and passionate about a particular career path to make plans now with employers to book in their work experience placements now. I know places in performing arts, theatres and sport get booked up very quickly.
CAREERS Appointments
Year 12 and 11 are seeing Careers advisor Nic Dean each week she is helping students think about next steps and prepare an action plan. We are identifying those who want initial support.
