Year 11 Geography Fieldtrip to Studland Bay

On Tuesday 24th and Thursday 26th September the Year 11 Geography students completed their physical fieldwork at Studland Bay, Dorset. Students had a key question of “why does vegetation vary in a sand dune system” so used a variety of data collection methods in order to get data to help them answer this question. Data was collected on the angle of the slope, temperature, wind speeds, vegetation counts, soil depths and management mapping. Some groups collected this data in lovely sunshine whilst others battled with the wind and the rain whilst on the dunes. Students will then use this data back in the classroom to make graphs from and then analyse the data to see if they can provide an answer to their key question. for your news story here.
